Portable Single-Piece Van Ramp

This is a “rest on” design that rests in place by using a resting connection to the floor of the vehicle. It is a single- piece wide platform and stays secure under weight. This design is ideal for flight cases and quick operations.

Fixed and Folding Van Ramps

As with standard fixed folding van ramps, heavy duty ones are also bolted into place and use gas struts for easy usage. However, this design can only typically withstand up to 1,000kg of weight.

Heavy Duty Pair/ Channel Ramps

This design is more ideal for loading and unloading heavy plant equipment, machinery, diggers and wheeled equipment. This design is a pair of ramps with high capacity tracks designed for the heavier industrial jobs. Theses ramps can usually withstand up to 3,500 kg of weight.

Slip Resistant Surface

Usually they have high-traction, serrated or R13-Rated anti-slip to prevent slips in wet weather when in use.

Raised Safety Edges

These are usually 30mm-42mm high edges up the sides of the ramp to prevent cargo from sliding or wheeling off the edge of the ramp during loading and unloading.

Angled/Tapered Foot

This feature ensures a smooth transition of the cargo from the ground to the ramp and vice-versa.

Bepoke Van Ramps

Bigger vans and vehicles such as commercial vans such as Ford Transit vans can easily take this system, but for smaller vans and vehicles, double check the following factors:

  • Vehicle Payload and Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) – The combination of the weight of the heavy duty ramp and the cargo when it is loaded into the vehicle must NOT exceed your vehicle’s maximum authorised mass/axle load limits, as this will cause damage to your vehicle.
  • Loading Height – This is the height from the ground to the vehicle floor and is needed to get the length of the ramp correct to ensure that the slope when in use is an approximate incline of 30%, so that the slope is not too steep.
  • Ramp Style – Decide if your want a permanent bolt-down/folding/swivel design or a portable/storable ramp that secures into place with pin connections.

A standard heavy duty ramp usually has the following measurements;

  • Width – Usually the total external width is 1,000mm, with the internal usable track width of approximately 940mm.
  • Length – Standard ramp lengths range from 1,800mm to 3,600mm. This depends upon the vehicle’s loading height.
  • Capacity – Most models are designed to handle maximum loads of up to 1,000kg to 2,000kg safely. Some models such as heavy duty pair/channel ramps can take more weight than this.
  • Weight – The ramp itself usually weighs from 27kg to 60kg, depending on the length of the ramp.
